FIFA 17 Review
Introduction
FIFA 16 was a game that packed all the features and all the licences, but couldn’t deliver on the gameplay. FIFA’s gameplay became sluggish after FIFA 14 and every year became less enjoyable for me. FIFA 16 was the most sluggish feeling FIFA and the gameplay was really declining for me. It’s safe to say that I did not like FIFA 16 that much at all.
This year they have spoke about gameplay improvements like always, shown additions to the modes and have shown a brand new mode called “the journey”. The journey is a story mode, in FIFA. With cutscenes thanks to the frostbite engine, to voice acting from actors and real football players. It’s looking impressive.
So we all know that FIFA over the years has expanded on its content and modes, with every premier league stadium, 10000s of players, and deep and rich commentary, we know that FIFA is flowing with content. My gripe with FIFA however is the gameplay over recent years. You can have all the content in the world but if you can’t get the gameplay right, the content doesn’t matter. In my eyes they both matter, you need gameplay and content.
There was once upon a time back in the FIFA 12/13 days when FIFA was a fantastic all round football game, with fun, exciting gameplay. So is FIFA 17 a return to the glory days? Or is this just another stale year of FIFA?
